Located on the Colorado Front Range, Two Ponds is a tranquil haven in the midst of the increasingly frenetic environment. It is located in Arvada, CO, and is flanked by urban growth on all sides. The refuge provides a serene, withdrawn environment that is only a short drive away for millions of city people. You may use it for free all year long and take a relaxing, easy nature stroll whenever you need to get away from it all.

Despite the fact that it is the smallest urban unit within the Refuge System, which contains more than 500 sites, this park is truly one-of-a-kind. It protects 72 acres, of which 63 acres are upland and 9 acres are wetlands. Two Ponds Wildlife Refuge has three ponds, which is in contrast to the name of the refuge.

Hiking — A self-guided trip through the park includes an interpretation program, which allows visitors to learn more about the park by reading a park brochure and visiting the numbered sites that correspond to the guidebook. There is nearly a mile of well-maintained nature paths, including several manicured loops and meadows, to explore in the park. They are open throughout normal business hours.

Wildlife Viewing – Wildlife photography and viewing are both possible at Two Ponds, which is a short drive from Denver. Benefit from free park admission and make the most of it all year long.

It was more than two decades ago that the Founders & Friends of Two Ponds National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) came together as a devoted group of Arvada citizens to assist in the preservation of the Two Ponds NWR. Now, Founders & Friends is collaborating with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service to advance the Service’s objective of “making wildlife conservation more relevant to American citizens and encouraging their participation in and support of the National Wildlife Refuge System.” Founders & Friends is an officially sanctioned “Friends” group, as recognized by the United States Secret Service.

A major part of their mission is to provide support to the Two Ponds National Wildlife Refuge through efforts to: conserve native habitat and wildlife, provide opportunities for the public of a major metropolitan area to experience wildlife and nature, raise awareness and appreciation for the National Wildlife Refuge System, and promote awareness and appreciation of the National Wildlife Refuge System.
