The Silver Vines Winery officially opened its doors on December 2nd, 2011. Danny and Jeff Chayer, who were born and raised in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, founded the company after nearly five years of experience in the wine industry. Minnesota, Texas, and Washington were three of the states where they received training in vineyard management and winemaking. They brought their skills to Colorado, where they opened their first winery in Olde Town Arvada, CO, where they continue to operate today.

Jeff began making wine in Minnesota but desired to further his studies, so he relocated to Texas to attend Grayson County College, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Viticulture and Enology with a concentration in wine production. In the same period that Jeff was attending school, Danny, who had recently graduated from St. Cloud State University, relocated to Texas and began working at a local winery. After graduation, Jeff relocated to Washington, where he accepted a position as an assistant winemaker at Zerba Cellars, while Danny remained in Texas. Danny worked as a manager for Landon Winery in Greenville, Texas when he returned home.

In 2010, the brothers reunited in Greenville, Texas, where Danny worked as the general manager of Landon Winery and Jeff as the winemaker for the establishment. They took advantage of their previous knowledge and opportunities to launch their own company in 2011. They packed up their belongings and moved to Colorado to start Silver Vines Winery.
